The College of Dairy Technology commenced on 8th August 2008 as a constituent institute of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Science University, Nagpur with an initial intake capacity of 32 students from all over the Maharashtra and 3 seats over and above the intake capacity are reserved for Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) candidates. The college started functioning in the small building of College of Veterinary & Animal Science, Udgir as temporary arrangement. It was shifted on 26th Jan 2010 to the new structure, which was the Goat & Sheep farm of College of Veterinary & Animal Science earlier. Within short period of time the college has developed optimum facilities. The college library & information Cell having around 1728 Books, 12 Journals and 12 News papers to fulfill the academic and information needs of the students and staff. Computer cell at college providing internet facility to students and staff so, as to improve their soft skills. There are four class rooms with facility of LCD projectors and Plasma TV’s.
B. Tech. (Dairy Technology) degree programme offers intensive training in processing of milk and milk products, quality control and engineering aspects of dairy processing equipment’s. The course curriculum modified by ICAR, New Delhi, which is spread over eight semesters (4 Years) including hands on training & experimental learning during Vth Sem. and inplant training VIIIth Sem. Institute follows semester pattern to complete the course curriculum. One academic year consists of two Semesters each of about 18 weeks duration. The admissions are open for candidates passed HSC with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (PCME) from a Board / University recognized by the Institute. Admission is given as per the State Government and ICAR rules.
